CHICAGO - Illinois State Representatives Angelo “Skip” Saviano and Ed Sullivan, Jr. today endorsed Andy McKenna for Governor and State Senator Matt Murphy for Lt. Governor.
“Andy and Matt are the best team Republicans have to win in November,” said Saviano. “I know that when elected they will cut spending and hold the line on taxes.”
“...Illinois is on the brink of financial disaster which is why we need a governor like Andy who has run a successful business and knows how to create jobs,” said Sullivan.
Sullivan has served in the Illinois House since 2003 and represents portions of Cook and Lake Counties. He serves on the Revenue & Finance Committee and is the Republican Spokesperson for the Consumer Protection Committee. Sullivan previously endorsed McKenna’s running mate State Senator Matt Murphy for Lt. Governor.
“I am grateful for the support of so many Republican leaders across the state,” said McKenna. “The momentum for our campaign continues to grow and with the support of Representatives Saviano and Sullivan, we will secure victory on February 2nd.”
McKenna and Murphy have also received the endorsement of the Chicago Tribune, noting McKenna would “aggressively push new ideas for education and job creation” and highlighted Murphy as “a guy who has made a name for himself in a short time by questioning the status quo."
“Receiving these endorsements is an honor and I proudly accept them,” said Murphy. “We are seeing positive results as we continue campaigning across the state talking about our message of cutting spending and lower taxes."
The McKenna-Murphy campaign has previously been endorsed by House Republican Leader Tom Cross and House Republican Leadership members, Mark Beaubien and JoAnn Osmond.
